Anthony To Appear In 3 Plays During Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 2009 Season Anthony is scheduled to appear in three plays during the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 2009 production season: Equivocation, The Music Man and Henry VIII.
Equivocation (April 15 - October 31 at the Angus Bowmer Theatre). "Truth-telling in dangerous times. What if the government commissioned you to write the definitive history (make that a self-serving lie) of a national crisis? What story would you tell? Welcome to London, 1605, and the world of King James, the Gunpowder Plot, and the Tower dungeons, as William Shakespeare and his theatre company struggle to create a play to please the king and not lose their hearts, souls, or heads in the process. In a world premiere, Bill Rauch directs Bill Cain's high-stakes political thriller with ties to both Macbeth and Henry VIII. A must-see for Shakespeare lovers." (Strong language, violent scenes). Anthony will be performing the role of Shag.
The Music Man (February 15 - November 1 at the Angus Bowmer Theatre). "River City's got Trouble . . . with a capital T that rhymes with C that stands for Change. With some creative surprises, Bill Rauch reveals and celebrates the transformative power of art in this joyous American musical classic, brought to you OSF style. River City's folks have a chip-on-the-shoulder attitude until Harold Hill steps off the train with a glittering scam: to teach music to the town's children - and bilk their parents. Surprising himself and everyone else, Hill colors the town with openhearted possibility, and love makes River City the end of the line for him. " Anthony will be performing the role of Mayor Shinn in selected performances beginning May 28.
Henry VIII (June 2 - October 9 on the Elizabethan Stage / Allen Pavilion). "The king takes all. The queen has not produced an heir, and the Tudor line is in jeopardy. Obsessed, Henry sets his eye on the fetching young Anne Bullen (Boleyn). Urged on by the Machiavellian Cardinal Wolsey, the king reshapes the world to suit his needs: divorcing the queen, eliminating rivals, flouting papal law, and forever changing the face of religion in England - and beyond. Back by popular demand in its first OSF staging since 1984, Shakespeare's final history play is directed by John Sipes (King John) as a lavish outdoor spectacle." Anthony will be performing the role of Cardinal Wolsey.

Anthony Narrates 15 New Audio Books
Already one of the most prolific narrators in the field of audio books, Anthony has been especially busy of late. Starting back in June of 2007 and continuing through May of 2008 there are no fewer than fifteen (15) new audio books narrated by Anthony that have either already hit the shelves or will be soon! A February 10, 2008, review by Rochelle O'Gorman of the Boston Globe had this to say about Anthony's narration of author Michael Flynn's novel "Eifelheim":
"Audio book veteran Anthony Heald has a deep, lovely voice. Each character has a different accent, pace, and personality... His German accent is on the mark, and he smoothly expresses the irony running throughout the story."
You can click over to the Audio Books page for a complete update of all 15 of the new titles, including publisher and ISBN numbers for ordering purposes.
Anthony To Appear In 2 Plays During Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 2008 Season Anthony is scheduled to appear in two plays during the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 2008 production season, Our Town and The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler.
Our Town (June 4 - October 11 at the Angus Bowmer Theatre). "OSF presents a landmark production of this American favorite where it belongs, under the stars. Although daily life in this small town looks pretty humdrum, powerful currents - love, disappointment, joy, heartbreak - transform ordinary lives into something extraordinary. Call it a sense of the eternal or just the ties that bind us in the human adventure. Director Chay Yew distills this beloved classic down to its astounding, uncertain, joyous essence. If you think you've been to Grovers Corners, it's time to revisit." Anthony will be performing the role of the Stage Manager.
The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler (April 15 - November 1 at the Elizabethan Stage/Allen Pavillion - Strong language, mature themes). "It's the final act of Ibsen's play, and Hedda's just done herself in - again. In hopes of a rewrite, Hedda ventures out on a rollicking quest to liberate her story. She's joined by a quirky collection of other well-loved dramatic characters equally eager to jump off their pages. Bill Rauch directs Tony Award-winner Jeff Whitty's (Avenue Q) mind-bending and riotously funny comedy that will have you questioning your attachment to archetypes, stereotypes - and your own destiny." Anthony will be performing the role of Patrick.

Anthony Appears At Oregon Shakespeare Festival In Molière's Comic Masterpiece "Tartuffe"
"One of drama's most infamous and entertaining con artists will come to life when Molière's comic masterpiece "Tartuffe," directed by Peter Amster, opens at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007 in the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Bowmer Theatre. Orgon, a wealthy bourgeois, and his mother, Mme. Pernelle, have fallen under the spell of Tartuffe, a mysterious holy man with more on his mind than the eternal. Tartuffe has even taken up residence in Orgon's house.
Anthony Heald plays Tartuffe. Richard Elmore has been cast as Orgon, and Suzanne Irving as his wife, Elmire. Linda Alper plays the impertinent maid Dorine, Richard Howard is Elmire's brother, Cléante, Laura Morache and Gregory Linington play Mariane and Damis." - Bill Varble, Mail Tribune.

OSF Presents Witty, Naughty, Accessible 'Tartuffe' "The very funny new production of Molière's "Tartuffe" that opened Saturday night at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival boasted some of the festival's premier actors. There was Anthony Heald, back at OSF from his role as Scott Guber in "Boston Public" and other work, as the phony holy man who provides the play's name. And there was Richard Elmore as the rich bourgeois Orgon, who has fallen under Tartuffe's sway.
The great charlatan does not enter until almost time for the intermission. When he does he is endowed by Heald with an air of self-importance and the dead eyes of a reptile. His first line, delivered to his acolyte, Laurent (John Michael Goodson), says it all: "My hair shirt needs wringing out."- Bill Varble, Mail Tribune.

Anthony Appears At Oregon Shakespeare Festival In Anton Chekhov's "The Cherry Orchard"
"Anton Chekhov's "The Cherry Orchard," which opened February 24, 2007 at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, is a sentimental event for its director, outgoing artistic director Libby Appel. She did a new adaptation, and has lavished loving care on what turns out to be a transcendent artistic experience, easily the best play among the four spring openings.
It's a ship of fools, people facing danger and unable to react. The characters include Lyubov's bubbly daughter Anya (Christine Albright), who is smitten with the dour perpetual student, Petya (Gregory Linington); adopted daughter Varya (Gwendolyn Mulamba), who would marry Yermolai if he only asked her; mannish governess Charlotta (Robynn Rodriguez); financially strapped neighbor Boris (Anthony Heald); clumsy clerk Semyon (Christopher DuVal); and self-interested valet Yasha (John Tufts).
Heald brings great life to Boris, something of a wheezing but optimistic life of the party who always seems on the verge of extinction but somehow endures happily. Only Mulamba and Linington seem a bit out of touch with their characters, but it's a minor note in a production that hits all the right notes nearly all the time. This is a Chekhov for the ages." - Ron Cowan, Statesman Journal

And several reviewers have gone out of their way to mention some of the supporting cast members, including Anthony, who appears in the role of one of the FBI Agents who interrogates Mystique:
The amazing cast also includes Shohreh Aghdashloo, R. Lee Ermey, Anthony Heald and Cameron Bright. It's an embarrassment of riches.... - Dallas Voice, May 26, 2006
In addition to Kelsey Grammer, who joins the X-Men fold as the burly, blue-hued "Beast," the supporting cast is peppered with familiar faces - Michael Murphy and Bill Duke, Anthony Heald, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Josef Sommer (as the president) and an unbilled Olivia Williams. - Winston-Salem Journal, Thursday, May 25, 2006
